GlobiVac® FOWL POX

FOWL POX is a slow spreading viral infection of chickens characterized by proliferative lesions in the skin (cutaneous form) that progress to thick scabs and also by lesions in the upper GI and respiratory tract (diphtheritic form). It is seen worldwide.

Fowl Pox is characterized by:
  • proliferative lesions
  • drop in egg production and
  • delayed growth of young birds

Haemorrhagic ulcers in intestines

Diptheritic form (Wet Pox):
  • It includes the development of slightly elevated white opaque nodules on the mucous membranes of the mouth, oesophagus, pharynx, larynx and trachea
  • These nodules rapidly increase in size
  • There is usually high mortality

Cutaneous form (Dry Pox):
  • It includes the development of small nodules or spherical wart like masses on the skin of comb, wattle and other unfeathered areas
  • There is low to moderate mortality

Route of administration:
  • Vaccine should be administered by Wing Web Method or by i/m injection

Age of vaccination:
  • Primary Vaccination: at 8th week of age
  • Booster Vaccination: between 12 to 16 weeks of age is recommended in endemic areas

  • Vaccine should be stored and transported as per the conditions recommended.
  • Vaccine vials should not be exposed to direct sun light.
  • Consult your veterinarian for specific vaccination schedule for your farm.
  • Vaccinate only healthy birds.
  • Reconstitute vaccine only with the diluents supplied by Globion with aseptic precautions and use it within 2 hours.
  • Do not use chemical disinfectants to sterilize the vaccine applicators.
  • Do not mix with other vaccines.
  • Use the vaccine entirely once opened. Left over vaccine should be discarded.
